Default 74 Upper and Lower Dash removal help

How much work is it to remove to remover the upper dash pad and lower portions of the dash? (74 Corvette)

The car does not have air.

I am looking at replacing the upper dash pad. I was also considering insulating the interior too.

Any help full tips?

Go to Willcox (on the left) type in 1974- repair and install -dash pad. There is a good how to there.

I pulled my dash out last winter to replace the wiring harness.
Removing the steering column is probably the hardest part IMO. Removing the speedo and tach cable was the trickiest part, having someone to help from the engine bay made it much easier

Thanks for the information!

It looks a lot easier than the 78 dash replacement.

There is no need to 'insulate' inside the dash area. If you insulate the floor , including the bulkhead behind the seats and the inner firewall as far up as you can reach, you will be fine.

Removing the dash panels and dash cap is a LOT of work. If the dash cap has minor cracks and chips, you can salvage it in place with carefully applied 'spot' body putty and some SEM 'Color Coat' vinyl dye to recolor it...much easier and less expensive than replacement.

If the surface of the dash pad is breaking up, you need to replace it.
