Knock the roll pin out of the lower gear.. pull the main shaft and see what it looks like..
Look for wear on the shaft... I see the wear on the Teflon button.. but I don't think that is your problem.
Also.. Look in the inside area of the brass coupler.. see if it is oval... (look for ridges in there) If the cross gear wears out the coupler it will **** the tach gear too.. I forgot that in my earlier post.
