the pass side is lower than the drive side in the rear... i tried adjusting the spring bolt but it is still lower... is there a bushing or something that could be worn.....thx
First you need to identify where the problem is. Park the car on a flat level surface. Now measure from the ground to the FRAME ( I prefer to measure at the directly below the door, center of the door and at the rear) Do this on both sides. This will determine if its a suspension or frame problem. If your measurements are equal or very close to it, then I would look a body mounts.
i just measured there is less than 1/4 inch difference between the 2 sides...meassured chassis to floor middle of both doors..where do i go from here...thx
If the sides are within 1/4 inch that tells me that the frame and importantly the suspension are okay. Is the passenger side consistant? In other words is the passenger side higher the length of the car? Look at your body mounts and see if the drivers side mounts are badly compressed. One thing to remember is that these cars are old, many have been driven with only one occupant, the driver, which causes the mounts on the drivers side to wear out sooner.
I left some extra height on the driver side, because of the one driver thing...It looks higher when it's empty, but level when I am sitting in it. Sit in it and see if it's level,(have a woman tell you, they have a good eye)...This could be the way it's set up, and a good thing.
