Default Air Conditioning Question

I posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry. My corvette has been a learning process for me. So forgive the newbie if I don't know part names.

Where the A/C blower enters the firewall there is a door that has an actuator that opens below the windshield on the passenger side. I have no idea what this "door" is called, but it won't close. My guess is the actuator is bad, but is there a fix for this? Can this "door" be permanently closed? I have a working A/C. I use that term loosely, but it works.

Thanks to anyone that can offer help with this problem. I'll be posting and reading a lot from this point on as my car is coming home from the shop tomorrow after a complete engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, and an upper windshield frame repair.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FRESH AIR DOOR.
You can open this to draw in outside air, close it to re-use inside air.
The AC will usually be colder if the door is closed

Thanks for that answer. Any way to get it to close permanently? It's stuck open.
