Default Viper 211HV Keyless Entry - anyone install this?

I have the kit and am trying to install it in my '81. However, I am at a loss as to how to connect the lock/unlock wires. This unit has onboard relays.

I've been able to sort out a few of the connections. I've labled them below. The rest, including the actual lock/unlock wiring is confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Red wire needs to go to the battery, not ignition.

I believe that is referring to the +12v off the ignition switch. But you are correct, in essence, its +12v constant. Thanks.

I'm sure I'm missing an inside joke here.

Keyless start, while doable, would be a much tougher job. Keyless entry in a vehicle with power locks is pretty much plug and play (if I can figure out what wire goes where). Remote start would involve either converting to EFI or using solenoids and carb kits.

I just installed one of these yesterday in my 81. It took a while to figure out the wiring but now I can tell you exactly how to do it. not too hard once you figure that out.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get it installed, because my driver side lock mechanism is sticking. I've been fighting that for a while and decided that it would be a waste to start installing a keyless entry system on a power door lock that doesn't work. Between that and the cold, I've put it on hold.

Dave, can you give us an update on how you did it? I am very interested as well! If you can identify the wires in the chart above, I'll be happy to update it for future reference. I am sure others will find this thread very helpful.

I happened to notice on your schematic that you only get channel 2. I'd suggest satellite for a few more channels. Don't bother with cable, though, as I tried that and only got about 30 feet out of the driveway and then I had to pull back in the garage.

Sorry, I couldn't let the opportunity slip by!

you will need a test light. The diagram above is the one you get with the kit.
I only wanted the lock and unlock feature. I also connected the parking lights to blink. If you want the horn and anything else you are on your own.

1. Remove the drivers side kick panel
2. Find the light blue and black wire that go into the door.
3. Cut the blue wire. use the test light to find the hot side of the wire
you just cut. You will have to activate the door lock switch to make
one end of the wire hot.
4. Connect the green/black wire to the hot side.
5. Connect the white/ black wire to the other end of the blue wire that
you cut.
6. Next cut the black wire and find the hot side with your tester.
(activate the switch like before)
7. Connect the blue/black wire to the hot side of that black wire.
8. Connect the brown/black wire to the other end of the wire that you
cut.
9. The violet and violet/black wires are already tied together near the
plug end. Connect that to a hot at all times wire.
10. Connect the red to the same hot at all times wire.
11. Connect black to ground.
12. Connect the white to a parking light wire. I tapped into the brown
wire that goes to the light switch.
that is all I hooked up. you dont need any other wires. Not even the
yellow unless you are hooking up other stuff. Hope this helps

Any idea if this is the same as the "84?
