Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum so bear with me if I mess up.
I've just bought a 1975 Stingray which runs (bit of a stretch of the word run) but has a bunch of things I need to do. First off when it was repainted the previous owner never put all of the door hardware back so the outside handles don't work. I bought new pushrods and clips for the outside handles but I can't seem to find the right place/measurement to wind the fulcrum down so that the release lever goes far enough down to free the door catch. Inside handle works fine. The reason I need to do this job first is I have to work when I can and don't like leaving the car unlocked with a window down so I can lean in and open the door. I'm in Texas so rain is not the problem at the moment, just possible theft.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Michael

These images are from the '77 AIM [Assembly Instruction Manual]. This is something I highly recommend you obtain to help with these types of reassembly. The workings for your '75 should be very similar if not identical. If you need a close up of any part of these pics. just let me know and I will repost. Welcome to the Forum these guys are the best. mike...

Wow quick response thanks Mike,
Part number 6 in the lower picture is the item I'm referring to.
Still doesn't list a length, just says full travel and must not be pre-engaged. Guess I'll keep trying different lengths till it releases the catch.
I must try and get one of those manuals you copied to me.

Well back to the barn for more big hands trying to fit small parts into razor sharp edged dark areas.
This is still easier than restoring my 1989 V12 XJ-S. For the Corvette I can get parts, for the Jaguar hmmmm maybe.

That adjustment is critical. If its adjusted too far down the rod(forces the outer handle up), the latch will not unlock when locked and becomes a real pain. Test the adjustments with the door open and operate the latch with a screwdriver instead of closing the door. Make sure it will unlatch after you have turned the lock to lock and unlock. Do not close the door till you get it right.

Hi Michael,
75... NICE!!!!
Besides the 75 AIM that mds suggested, I think you'd find the 75 GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL to be good source of information and help too. Many of the vendor's sell them both, and they're well worth their cost.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
