Relpacing the steel line from pump to carb, the heater hose off the manifold is smack in the way of the line. Can you share pics and thoughts on how to configure the line around the hose/fitting?
Hi PHC,
Even on original cars the line is VERY close to the heater hose. I've seen reproduction lines that pass below the hose and also above it. Here's a picture of a repro line passing above the hose
I do believe though, that it passed below the hose at least some of the time in the 71 model year.
Regards,
Alan
Thanks for the pics guys, that helped a lot. I an under the hose. I also called my brother in law, the engineer with just about evey tool imaginable. The tool he recommended was the tube bender, $5.95 at Pep Boys, many tries at bending and re-bending. Got the darn rubber line out, metal in, ran her tested for leaks, everything look A-ok. I think I will plan the hoses from frame to pump another day, Miller Time. Celebrate each success as it happens.

Alan, a seperate question, on that very clear pic, where does the vacuum line at the top of the carb with white stripe go to?
Hi phc,
That white striped hose runs directly to the small port on the charcoal canister lid.
The canister has 2 large hoses, 1 from the gas tank and 1 from the pvc valve; and that 1 small hose.

Alan
