I am planning on converting my 77 from an automatic to standard in the future. My car dont have the cross shaft bracket installed on the drivers side frame. I have noticed it is available aftermarket can this bracket be welded on without removing the engine? Also is the cross member the same as the automatic?
You can weld the bracket to the frame with the engine in the car. I converted mine this summer, best mod I have done. I actually have a complete setup for another conversion. The crossmember for the automat will work for your conversion, you will have to weld 2 l brackets to the crossmember for the trans bracket.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would it be easier just to get the crossmember from the doner car? How difficult were the pedals to change ovwer?
The pedal conversion is the hardest part, especially if you're over 50 like I am. You need to remove the steering column and tach/speedo cluster.
Mock-up the bellcrank before you weld the bracket to the frame.
If you want the 4 speed, wait 2 years, which is when I'll be able to get a 5 speed for mine, and I'll give you my T10 for cheap. It was rebuilt about 3,500 miles ago, give or take.
