Other then the face plate are C3 clocks all the same? In other words, if I got an 80'-81' model year clock and used my face plate from the 75' would it fit perfectly?

I'm pretty sure it will change out 1968-1982. I'd have to double check this but I feel pretty sure.

I thought the 'clock' function was converted to digital display on the radio in '78 or later....

The clock changed in 81-82 to the radio only when you had the CB option; you got a oil temp gauge instead.

If you had the standard radio you got a regular clock in the dash cluster and no temp gauge.

1977-1980 cars all had the standard clock. 1980 was the first quartz clock.. I remember switching out my original 1979 clock for the 1980 quartz

And I just checked some pictures.. the clocks will fit.

Just yesterday I removed my 79's old (not working) electric clock mechanism and replaced it with the new Quartz mechanism and it works perfectly, keeps time really well and you get to use the same clock body, face and even a few of the gears from the original clock. Easy to install, clear instructions, took about 2 hours including the time to pull the gauge cluster from the console. $94 well spent in my opinion.

These clocks are available from most vendors, I got mine from Ecklers.

Cheers, Dennis.
