Did you use the schematic on the help file to verify the wires are on the motor, wiper switch connection and the relay??? There are pictures on the web site file that show you the correct position of each wire!
Did you ever get the voltage readings?
Is the motor is still DOA and not running?? I think you might want to do a hardwire (like in the video) and make sure the motor is still good. The puff of smoke was probably from the resistor at the three wire connection and the motor is probably still fine! If you do test the motor in the car.. "TAKE ALL" connections lose for the motor.. Leave nothing connected to it and remember to raise the wiper door and wet the windshield! Car testing just like the bench test is very easy to do and the main reason is to either eliminate or pinpoint the motor as the problem.
Please review the info on the help and repair page and make sure the motor and all connections are wired correctly. Post again...

I dropped my switch and pulled console, I have pics and will try to download on this forum later. Yes you can install the yel/blu connector backwards but I do not think thats your initial problem yellow on top blue on bottom. Looking AT wiper switch1) Left-dark blue blue activates washer if grounded. (2)middle - black wire grounded in off position (3) right- two light blue wires grounded in high (4)Case of switch grounded through bezel. The only voltage you will read is thru the motor cicuit, so basically you are grounding each wire for different fuctions. Ck switch -with an ohm meter you will have continuity between 2&4 in off position - 2,3,4 in low- 3,4 in high- 1,4 if you push for washer. Motor smoking ? Hope you only blew your fuse, so double ck them. Have you checked relay funtion?

I do not see my recent replys so I must be doing somthing wrong, yes you can install backwards yellow to the top blue to the bottom. You can ground any of the three wires from the switch without any damage. Gnd dark blue activates washer Gnd blk and light blue activates Low speed gnd only light blue activates high gnd only blk is off. is your relay funtioning? dntoearthman@gmail.com if you need pics of wiring.
OK, I guess I'll test out the relay. Note that today, my battery was completed dead so whatever happened must be still draining power. thx for the help.
