Last summer i put a new top on my car. The only bit that is bugging me is the vinyl covered foam 'strip' that runs accross the front of the top. About the size of a dime in section, it staples to the underside of the frame at the front and is sandwiched between the windsheild header and the conv top frame.
These come with all new tops but for the life of me i cannot find a black replacement strip (with molded ends :)) anywhere.
Re: Looking For Convertible Top part (74-Roadster)
I don't think the ends are molded. You have to cut, roll, and staple it yourself. This "jellyroll" comes on large rolls, and is not custom made for each car. Put a top on my 69 last year, and used a complete Al Knoch kit. It came with the jellyroll, with "raw" or cut ends. His video tells you how to cut, fold, and roll the ends before stapling. Call ECO Trim and Upholstery in Bel Air, behind the Volvo dealer. Ask for Danny or Joe. I'm sure they have it. Chuck
The shop that put on my Al Knoch top said it took them about an hour to finish that part and install it. The ends look hand finished. Al Knoch seems to have the best tops, and overall it looks great, so I am happy with the way it was installed. Joe
