i have been working on my 81 and finally got the engine in it Friday! i have to button a bunch of stuff up and hope to have it running by next friday. right now i'm debating on whether i want to buy a crossmember or build one for my 2004r trans
Your build looks great and so does the engine compartment. You should be able to modify the crossmember for the tranny with your skills and ability.
Caution: When the engine goes in, it is really common to get excited and hurry the 'button up' process. Lots of errors can be made in that scope of work and diagnosing them and repairing them can be a PITA. Take your time and make sure you have accurately completed each step. If you want to create a little check-sheet before you start, that will help get the button-up sequencing right and assure that all was completed properly.

Not bad advice at all, even for us seasoned builders. Great work keep it up.
Darn good advice about taking it slow connecting everything up and getting ready for the start. It only takes one cut corner at this point to cause major problems...or chase a no-start for days.
great idea on the list, i have been working on one today. I finally have the trans all mounted up and just about everything under the car bolted up and ready to go, hopefully i will have it running by thuresday evening
