I got the radiator and fan shroud out no problem, but how does one remove the AC radiator? Since I havent seen anything listend anywhere about how to get this thing out, I am assuming I am missing something simple. I it is attached with 4 bolts which I have removed, but there is a rubber line to the compressor and a metal line to the condenser. Should I just detach those lines after decompressing the system and pull it out like the radiator? Thanks. Im sure I'll have more questions the deeper I get into this :)
I changed the cam in my 71 without discharging the AC. I lifted and twisted the condenser out of the way so the cam could slide out. Be careful and bend the metal line as little as possible.

Nothing a big hammer and a hack-saw can't accomplish.... :jester
I just happened to do JUST that about a year ago...just make sure
there is no pressure in the system, and disconnect hoses and bolts,
and out she comes. Took all of 20 minutes.
On my 81, I took the hood off, then just removed the top bolts of the AC cooler, and there was enough room to take out the cam, and put in the new one.
I was under the impression that you didn't have to take the condenser (radiator type unit in front of the radiator) out to do a cam swap. You may have to unbolt it and tilt it some but you shouldn't have to depressurize the A/C system.
Since I have been at work my buddy went and depressurized the system and removed the condensor. My A/C hasnt been used in over a year anyway and needs a new compressor, so no harm done.
Ill probably be back sooner or later with another question, thanks again everyone :D
