Default Thank you Mr Willcox

Just wanted to give a big thank you to Mr Willcox for posting his excellent information and also to maybe help someone else who may encounter this problem. My '71 Vette wipers were only working when you pushed in the switch to the washer position. As soon as you let it go it would go into park and stop. Both high and low speeds worked but only when you pushed and held the switch in. Using Mr Willcox's video and wiring diagram from his website I was able to check the motor and find the problem which turned out to be a bad ground from the blower motor to the ground terminal on the wiper motor. Using the same principals (now that I knew that everything was based on switching the ground) I was also able to fix the wipers on my 68 Camaro which did the same thing ironically. That one turned out to actually be the switch. Because you took the time to write and post all this excellent info I was able to fix both cars and not waste any money and still remain sane too!

Phil

Ernie's test video and troubleshooting guide should be in the sticky section.

Mr JlR: I have to agree with you. I own several vehicles and have found a lot of good info which applied to them here. When I bought the Vette, it looked great but almost everything had been Bubba'd up. Headlights wouldn't open, radio didn't work, etc. To make matters worse, the harness was hacked up und all of the wires under the hood had been painted black. I've had a few issues with it myself such as the clutch and the snubber but I've always been able to find very thorough and accurate info here without having to ask anything. I am amazed at how much some people here know about these cars. I've toyed with muscle cars pretty much my whole life but Vette's are a little different animal
