I ran into a simalar deal on my car that turned out to be the gas cap. No air in or out will stop the fuel flow until it sits a while and the air presure equalizes in the tank. Could be something for you to chexk out!

Inca32,

Was the engine at temperature and stalled when you did your test?

I was told to test positive coil wire when it got to doing it and make sure still had 12v. Also had trash in carb come up as something to check.

Inca like you I had recently rebuilt carb, but they still say to pull bowls and filters and check carefully.

did you check float level befor removing? Just curious if needle was sticking or crap in the needle and seat. I am getting ready to go thru all this in a few minutes so maybe if I find something I can help more.

Now you know its not a problem with the fuel pump since it pumps plenty of fuel.

If you spray fuel in the carb it will crank so its got to be a problem with the carb.

Melwff said to check the accelerator pump and the ball below it, he might have nailed it. I believe the ball acts as a one way valve. If the ball does not seat good maybe that's the problem. I'm no expert on anything, especially qjets. But I do think you have isolated the problem.

Do you live around south Louisiana? I have an extra carb you can try.

Their was no junk around the needle seat and the float level was at .375. Only thinng I found was that the needle seat was hanging on the front of the float arrm instead of the back side but I dont think that would cause the no fuel problem. By the way i live in Michigan and its been in the 90's for the past week again.

put voltage meter on positive coil terminal... I was getting low voltage. I put wire from alt pos term to coil positive and bam fired off.... gonna let warm up without wire off and then try adding wire back and see. was told that wire could be bad and warming up loses connection. we will see in a few.

I don't know enough about qjets to troubleshoot them. I know that once I rebuilt my qjet without soaking it in cleaner overnight. Put it together with rebuild kit. Used a can or carb cleaner and air compressor to blow out all passages. Carb would not run smooth. Had major trouble with idle and needle/seats not working good. Had flooding issues.

Took it apart and soaked it overnight in carb cleaner at mechanic shop. Put it back together and it ran like a champ, still running smooth one year later. I couldn't see any grit or trash but it was there. Now i'm a believer in soaking it for a rebuild.

Also saw on hotrod tv show to take a hammer and punch and tap the ball bearing against the seat, below the accelerator pump to make sure it is seating good. Be sure and use the old ball bearing you are taking out, not the new one.

For help on qjets, Lars is the expert. I am really out of suggestions with the carb.
