I am trouble shooting my wiper system on my 1970 corvette and have
reviewed
>your repair and install help lititure and it was very helpful but I
do have
>one question. The yellow hot wire was working great until I
installed all the
>components back in the car. Now the yellow wire is not hot, Do you
know what
>would cause this to loose power? also the wiper door remains open
all the time.

Did you possibly blow the 25 amp wiper fuse in the fuse panel ? The yellow wire runs through a connector and then right to the fuse block. I think the same fuse would kill 12 volts to your wiper relay.

You might also check the bulk head connection to make sure there is not corrosion on the contact terminal.

A quick check would be to pull the wire from the tach solenoid and test the yellow wire for power there... If you have it at the tach solenoid then you should have it at the wiper motor unless there is a problem in the fuse or the bulk head connection.

As far as the wiper door goes! The wiper door opens by having the vacuum going to the small side of the relay interrupted! What controls this.. the tach solenoid being powered up by the yellow wire when the wiper switch is turned on! It can also be opened by using the over-ride switch so make sure its not pulled...

Also go to the section on the site about vacuum schematic's.. see if you have the hoses reversed on the solenoid and/or the over-ride.

Post back what you find.. but you might also consider doing another thread on this with a help description. My out of office email says to include Willcox in the post (the body) so that when I search it will pop up.. it will find it if you just put it in the body of the post... By not having a description in the header you'll miss out on other advise from other members.

Willcox,
The fuze seemed to be the problem with the power on the yellow wire, but still unable to find out why the wiper door does not function properly. How can I test the tach solinod? I've reversed the hoses on the actihator and the doors closes but will not open.
