Default Urethane bushing question

My 69 has urethane control arm bushings. The bolts seem to get loose over time because they can't lock onto the center piece like OEM bushings. I had another corvette that had urethane bushings and it had the same problem. I had to check them often and they always were a little loose. I even tried "680" loctite. So if any of you guys have urethane bushing be sure to check them from time to time. Any Ideas how to prevent this ? :cry

I too have the same problem with my controll arm bushing bolts comming loose. I have made it a regular stop on my frequent check list. Every time I check the fluids, I also check the controll arm bolts. It would be nice to find a permanent fix.

Is this the same problem with urethane rear spring outer cushions too or just control arm bushings?

No... the only bolts that loosen are the four on the front control arms, because they rotate.

I have one that works it's way out after a while. Don't they make bolts with a nylon insert. I'm just glad it's not one of the bolts buried by the fan shroud!

The first time mine loosened up the bolt actually fell all the way out. Then the bushing itself fell out also. I could tell the car was handling funny. When I got home I found the bushing in the driveway. I sure got lucky that it fell out there. I slid it back in with a new bolt and washer. Since then they have come loose one more time. Im always checkin em now.

I have had a Vette Brakes poly adjustable strut rod set under my car for allmost 6 years now, and it's been fine...I suspect the stock type rods probably are elongated in the loop ends, found that once on another car, thin metal, small diameter compared to the VB strut rods....

I just a month ago had to replace my VB rod bushings, finally just worn out...

Thanks for the replies... I guess I'll just check the control arm bolts from time to time. :chevy

My upper's were very loose. One bolt was almost out. I heard the washer rattling but couldn't find the rattle for a while.
