This has nothing to do with my Vette, but answers the quetions of, "Why did Bubba do that"? I decided to use my Good Friday off to fix a small problem in my wife's Z24. The blower motor had a slight vibration and would no longer work on the low speed setting. So I pull the blower motor, and the vibration had been caused by some leaves etc. that had collected in the system. Easy enough. Now on to the low speed setting. It turns out that the low speed circuit on the blower motor resistor board had some corrosion and was no longer working. Again, easy enough. I hop in the car and go down to my local Chevrolet dealer to pick up a new piece. I figure it's a small hunk of plastic with a connector on the end, so I'm thinking it's an $8 part. No, it's a $40.92 part!!!!   It's a stinking 2" x 2" plastic card with some resistor material printed on it and a connector on the end of it!!!!! WTF!!!! Total cost to get the low speed back on the blower...$43.79. That's with me doing the work. Had I taken the car in, they probably would have charged about $110 to get the low speed back (part + 1 hr labor+ tax). If this wasn't my wife's car, I would have told them to stick it up their collective pooper and lived without the damn thing (the other three speeds work fine). Maybe fashion a resistor out of coat hanger and duct tape. Anything to avoid being robbed by the dealer. :mad
Re: Why Bubba doesn't fix things right (79MakoL82)
Mako,
I believe you are "slightly" mistaken, what was wrong with your wifes car was not a 2"x2" piece of plastic BUT a 2"x2" piece of plastic with a part number on it! And if "bubba" fixed things right he wouldn`t be "bubba" he would be the guy at the repair shop charging (and getting) $65 an hour. Also if there were NO "bubbas" where would all the $3k Corvettes come from??
"just a thought" ...redvetracr
Re: Why Bubba doesn't fix things right (79MakoL82)
Bubba is usually the guy who
1: Doesn't know how to fix what's broken correctly
2: Doesn't want to waste time finding out how to fix it correctly (and would not have the right tools anyway)
3: Always says to himself "there, that's good enough for now"
