Default Just a Warning on QA1 Shocks

If you are ordering "Corvette C-Series Shocks" from Jegs or Summit, part #TC1958P - save yourself some time, they don't fit! The bottom mounting bar is not correct for the lower control arm holes.

I don't know what is going on but the application of those shocks are for 'others' not Corvettes. Check on the QA1 web site, they should be #TC1959P.

Also, these shocks are adjustable, but how do you adjust them if the adjusting **** is hidden by the spring pocket in the control arm?

Just keep it in mind.

Bud.

The solution to the first problem is the long T-bar that QA-1 has available. I had to open the hole in the upper spring pocket in the event of full compression so the shock body would clear. Can't help you with the adjuster problem. I had to open the hole in a set of VBP lower control arms to insure the ***** would clear. With the suspension at loaded height, the ***** were not a problem. Might call Danny at Van Steel. They do a lot of work with the QA-1s. Good luck.

Default Long T-bar?

I'm waiting on QA1 to reply to my questions. I can see that they should be able to be dis-assembled. I sure hope I can get the correct bar. Being in Oz means I'm off the road for the next couple of weeks at least!

When will I learn to not through out old parts till it's absolutely necessary?????

Default Contacted QA1

Yup, it's listed wrong. More bad news, I can't simply change the lower mount to make it work as it's also the wrong length. Bugger!

But the good news is that I also called Jegs and they will exchange them. Even after 4 years they will stand up for the error. Thanks!

This car is being slowly morphed into a drag-street car. My research has shown the new trends on the strip is to simply stay with normal Monroe shocks on the front, that the fancy adjustable or even the 90/10 drag shocks don't deliver improved times. At half the cost, I like the new trends!

Don't talk so bad about those Chinese sourced products the only other alternative is expensive overpriced Dutch (Koni) and German (Bilstein) products. I think our Vettes all need more parts on them from reject Wal Mart suppliers so they can have their rice rations tonight.

Pretty soon we will be the ones worried about rice rations if this keeps up
