Read the directions before you order your parts. The valve is finicky, and the full rebuild kit costs almost as much as a good reman. Let me know if we can help out with either reman parts or rebuild kits.
Need to rebuild or replace both. Ecklers has the rebuild kits for $20 each. Are these Chinese specials or something I want to work with. Whole system is sitting on the floor and I'm wrapping up the front end and doing some minor fiberglass; but wanted to get the parts ordered so I am not sitting around with nothing to do. Although, there is always something to do right.
Hi deepsea70,
I've rebuilt both of my control valves and cylinders on my coupe and vert.
These links that speedreed8 has listed really show a good step by step rebuild for both the control valve and cylinder. I didnt have these links to go by and now that I've looked at them I can suggest that they will be very helpfull in a rebuild.
Also for more info and or detail look up Jim shea papers here on this forum under steering and you'll find tons of schematic on the subject.
As for rebuild kits I've used one from zip and one from corvette central.
For the control valve I buy both the valve rebuild kit and the ball valve rebuild kit. You'll notice that you'll double up on a few pieces but if your going to rebuild the valve then you might want to rebuild the whole thing correct. Zip #sc-522 & Zsc-323. Corvette Central #562337 & 562338.
Hope this helps.
P.S, WYAI replace all the hoses as well.
