:D The good news is I got my 74 off the jack stands and drove it to work today. Fired right up and lots of the things that I worked on this winter were working.
:cry The bad news is that I seem to have discovered a plethera of vaccum problems. The wipers twitch even when off, the lights pop up whenever the car runs, and If I actually turn the wipers on it kills the engine. So, I drove it in and went to pass a farm tractor. under heave exceleration it started cutting in and out. Anybody have a clue where I should start looking?
Thanks

Listen and feel around while the car is idling with the air cleaner off. You may be able to hear it cause it sounds big. If that doesn't work, start with the manifold and carb cause that's where it all starts. Make sure your vacuum advance hose is on, remove the hose that feeds the headlight system and plug the hole. If the engine starts running correctly then you know it's not an engine, carb, or manifold leak. Then follow the system looking for leaks or hoses off.
The wipers TWITCH???? That seems really strange. They are not vacuum operated.
Thanks Larry I'll give it a try. Must have a short in the wipers too! Oh goodie! If there is anything I know less about than vaccum it's electricity. :bb
Well, this WAS supposed to be a learning experience.
Lefty
Start by taking every vaccum line off your carb and plugging them up.
If the car runs fine, then, 1 by 1 replace a line and see what happens.
Also, a decent vacuum tester and pump is only $25 at most auto parts places. You can use those to create vacuum in the lines and see which are leaking!
