68 Vette engine missing under load
I am looking for some help as my vette's engine is missing when it is under load. I took the car out last week end and drove it 70 mile and it ran great. Parked it in the drive for a few hours and started it up and started down the block and it was missing and sputtering all over itself.
The car has the following new components:
New
Pertronics flame thrower distributor, coil and spark plug wire kit- about 3K miles on them.
New voltage regulator - old one was nasty.
Car is timed at 36 and 52 and ran very well.
Spark plug wire #1 was nasty at dist. cap- had 40K ohms resistence across wire- assumed it was bad.
The rest of the plug wires range from 1100 to 1800 ohms resistence.
When the car is running there is no change when # 5 and # 8 plug wire is removed from the distributor cap, the remaining wires when removed from the dist. cap will make the engine bog down.
There is about 55 to 60 thousands vertical play in the distributor shaft ( between magnet and electric ignition component) when according to pertornice meets the specifications.
Any ideas on what to check?
It almost runs like when the original distributor spacers shot craps.

Thanks
Ed
The spark plugs were changed about 7000 miles ago when the enigne was rebult.
Well I changed the spark plugs, rotor, dist. cap, fuel filter, voltage regulator and checked the timing right at 36/52. Car still boggs down and runs BAD.
Got and e-mail into pertonixs to see what maybe the problem with the Ignitor II distributor, Flame thrower II coile or flame thrower wires, everything else has been replaced.
