Anyone have a spare center holddown bracket for a hardtop? Even if to just borrow to use as template to make one. Or possibly make a tracing to use. I'm looking for the one that is dead center in the rear, secures to decklid.
Are you installing one to be "correct" or do you think it needs it? I run my hardtop without that center mount being used and it doesn't seem to matter. The other 7 attach points seem to hol it just fine. :smash:
I also use one of those Eckler's plastic protectors between the decklid and hardtop.....
IN FACT using that center rear bolt long enough, like all winter for a couple of years....will loosten up the 'nut' in the deck lid, wallowing out the fiberglass and making it loose....poor design...
I just use the 3 clamps up front and the two push down's in the rear....
it's all that is necessary...
I was just going for correctness. Truth be told I'll probably never use the hardtop anyway. I don't drive the Vette in the winter (read salt) .
Thanks for the replys, I know that bolt is overkill anyway.
George, Thanks for going to the trouble to check. I've gone thru the same thing. I know I have some hood hinge shims somewhere, but do you suppose I can lay hands on them. Found a lot of other stuff I didn't remember that I had though. :seeya
