I am slowly rebuilding my new to me 1968. The wipers do not work and I have replaced the motor. I noticed that the ground wire connected to the wiper motor is not connected to ground. I rememeber reading something about some ground connection at the wiper switch that often breaks? The gauges work okay so they are at least getting ground. I could not find anything that looks missing or broken behind the gauge cluster....what does it look like?
We have a couple wiper motor pro's here and hopefully they will speak up soon. Both Willcox and Roger are very knowledgeable when it comes to these damn wiper motors and wiring in general.
I can tell you that the ground at the wiper motor also grounds the blower motor.
2 questions, 1st does the blower motor/fan work? 2nd Do you have voltage on the ground to the wiper motor?
If you answer no to question 1 and yes to question 2, more than likely someone landed the ground to the starter. Pretty common mistake.
If your gauge bezel isn't broken the switch should have it's ground.
does yours have the under dash bypass? Mine was not working and turned the center **** and bam it worked. Also I had bad ground at the motor where the ground tab was.
