I am doing a complete frame off restoration on a 1971. I bought a suspension package and it came with a new comp rear spring that was wider than my original spring. To rectify this I bought a HD diff cover that accepts the wider spring. However this cover has 7/16" threaded holes and my spring kit came with 1/2" bolts. My old diff cover also had 1/2" holes. I dont have a problem buying the 7/16" bolts, but I am planning on building alot of horsepower into this car and am wondering if the lighter bolts will be a problem. I have already rebuilt my diff and painted it, so doubt if I can send it back. Do I worry too much?

Agree with fugawi.
FWIW, early C3's came with narrower springs and 1/2" bolts, later ones with wider springs and 7/16" bolts. Kit with wide spring should have come with 7/16" bolts. Since you've already purchased an HD cover, IMHO you've already addressed the biggest problem I've seen with older ones; that of spring bolt bosses breaking off.
