Run Out..
I have read that “rotor run out” is a big problem with disk brakes on older cars like my 1970. I had the local Chevy dealer check the run out when I had the rotors turned. At first the mechanic looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I asked them to check the run out. The younger guy next to us knew what we were talking about and got a dial indicator and sure enough there was 9 thousands run out. This is what has been ruining my rotors.
Now the problem is finding the shims to fix the problem. The only place I have found is NAPA. Is there any other place to order these shims? Seems to me that more people would carry them.

sure the rotors were somewhat warped giving some rotor run out, but really if that concerned should have took your care there and had it done on the oncar brake lathe, factors in the hub and whole assembly. assuming your hubs play are within spec. all gm dealers have the oncar brake lathe it essential tool.
