On my 76 corvette the stock radio only works through one speaker. When checking the voltage going to each speaker I found 12 going to one and 3.4 going to the other. I switch the wires and now the speaker that didn’t work, worked and the working one went silent so the speakers are good. I am electrically impaired so it might be a simple fix but I have no clue. Anyone know what it could be?
Logically, the only way to get 12 volts on the speaker line is for the 1.5 ohm loading coil for that channel to go open or be disconnected in the radio.
Since you're not hearing any sound at all, the DM48 audio driver module 'MAY' also be bad. It is soldered to the audio board next to the volume control.
Just be sure the 6 ribbon wire connector from the radio is firmly seated and not corroded at the dual convector on the firewall. You might get lucky...
