Do Evac. systems really add HP?
A friend of mine just added an evac. system to his car.
He installed the cheap version that you weld into the exhaust header.
Does this really work? Will it add HP?

That's kind of a race only setup. For the street I would stick with the proven PCV-breather arrangement. But, if you had to have it, the pump would be the way to go since the header type isn't designed to work with mufflers; the back pressure makes them ineffective. On a 600+ c.i. drag race engine, a vac pump will be good for an extra 10-20 hp.
