Half shafts

I am in the middle of rebuilding the rear suspension in my 72 and ran into a problem. I switched from 2 1/2 to 3 inch half shafts. I never checked the length but the 3 inch shafts are 1/2 inch shorter. Are the flanges for the 3 inch half shafts longer to make up the difference?

No one has ever changed their drive shafts on this forum?

I haven't myself but I know some here have, I've never heard of anyone finding that they were different lengths.

I think you might have bought some incorrect aftermarket halfshafts. Originals were all the same length and completely interchangeable.

Halfshafts for the batwing cars are different length than the '79 and older iron diff cars

Went to a local corvette shop and compared half shaft lengths. As stated earlier, there are 2 different length shafts. Great ! now Ill be buying another set. Thanks for all the help guys.
