Default Holley help

My secondary float level would not come up. I fully retracted the metering mechanism to properly seat the adjustment nut (the nut came off). I reinstalled and fired it up. Gas poured out the top of the secondary. Can any of you guys help guide me through getting the float level back down so that I can re-adjust it back up to the correct level.

A quick and easy way to do it is with the motor off remove the float adjusting screw and nut. Then use the nut to turn the needle and seat into the float bowl until it sticks out about half the thickness of the nut. Reinstall the nut and screw. Now start the engine and remove the sight plug. Slightly loosen the adjusting screw (no more than a 1/4 turn) and turn the nut clockwise to lower or counterclockwise to raise the fuel level. Should be set so the fuel just lightly trickles out of the sight plug. Tighten the screw and replace the sight plug.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. The top of the needle is slotted to accept the nut. Should the nut screw down below the slot in order to move the top of the needle up??

Just to get the terminology correct, the slot is on the seat. the needle is inside of the seat inside of the float bowl.

The nut does not move up and down. When you turn the nut it moves the seat up or down. The slotted part of the seat will be partially in the float bowl. Start out with it sticking up about half the thickness of the nut. The higher the seat is out of the float bowl, the higher the fuel level.

If you accidentally over-tightened the adjustment, you may have forced the system out of its operating range by bending the internal tab where the needle rests. If so, you have to remove the bowl & bend the tab back to put the system back into its operating range. Otherwise, you will never adjust it. Remember... I said "if".

The remedy is to bend the tab so that the float is parallel to the bowl with the needle in the middle of its operating range, re-assemble & adjust as described above.
