back up light relay

Default back up light relay
I have a 79 with manual trans. Mounted to the left side of the trans is a relay (I think the back up light relay). The wires that go forward toward the front of the car are just dangling on the ground. Does anyone know where this connector is supposed to connect up?

hi.mattk on my 81 it come down the driver side if i'm not mistaken it a two wire one light blue and a dark blue with a round connecter at the end , hope this help

should be a connector at firewall by left valve cover. lower fig.E. shows connector.

I must be missing something here. I've never seen a "relay" in the circuit of the backup lights on my 79.

That was my first thought but I think he's just referring to the reverse switch as a relay.

i think that is what it is. i was able to find one on eckler's site. i believe it is actually a switch.
