The dash on my '81 has 2 cracks in it as well as the upper dash filler between the dash and windshield. I see the cap/covers for around $100. I had one on my '77 280z back in the day and it was actually pretty nice. Has anyone ever installed one of these on their vette? If so how did it look once installed? Did it hold up well over time? Below seems to be cheapest one I have found and I assume they are all made by the same company.
Dam, that is good price.
Installed a dash cover in my Dodge Ram a few years ago. Got it on E-bay from some Co. in Alabama I think.
Took most of the day, cutting and trimming to fit. When I got it done, you can hardly tell it's a cover. Held up excellent over the years and still looks like the day I put it in.
i had 1 in both my porsches i had and you couldn't even tell it was a cover. on my 82 i had 2 cracks in the dash so i took the dash out and fixed the cracks and dyed it and so far so good. i also fixed the dash in one of my old trans ams and dyed the dash and it never cracked or showed the repair.
I had/have one of the half covers-just covers the top of the dash, not the entire front. It looked good. Better than a cracked dash. Ended up replacing the entire dash when I eventually had the money.
My cap is for sale in the parts section right now.
Thanks Blkslvr. I looked at your cap and it is good to see an honest picture of one. I think I am going to pass on getting one and just save my money for a true replacement. The caps/covers seem looks all the detail and texture. Mine is cracked on the passenger side so I don't really see it while driving.
