Default Quick electrical question

I have an electrical question. I'm trying to get my 72's seatbelt warning system to work. The 72, and 73 system have switches on the retractors, and they are pretty much impossible to find (or WAY to expensive!).

Later years have the switches located in the recievers, and these are pertty easy (and cheap) to find. So, I decided to egt some 74 recievers, and use those.

That seems to have worked fine, except for one thing. The receivers have continuity when the seatbelt is in the receiver, and I'm guessing that the 72/73 retractors lose continuty when that occurs - because my system works fine, except it's backwards, the light and buzzer come on when the seatbelt is inserted in the receiver.

My question is this, can I use a relay to reverse the function of the switch, and get the system to work correctly? Also, if that's true, what kind of relay - 12v?

Thanks,
Matt

Sure, that should be pretty simple with some cheap radio shack relays.
