Battery Orientation
Let me apologise by saying I can't find this in my AIM.
1968 Battery - Top post.
Do the posts face forward or rearward?
Is the positive on the drivers or passengers side of the compartment?
Any idea of the stock dimensions?
I'm going to grab a new battery at Sams Club tomorrow - and all I have to go by is the Interstate that's been in there for the last 12 years.
The car has been through more batteries than Liz Taylor has husbands - so there's no telling what is "correct" by the car.

You want a Group 24 battery. How the cables are laid out in the battery compartment will tell you which way to orient the battery itself. If I remember correctly, the posts will face the front of the car. But...the cables will tell you which way to install it.

Hi cc,
I believe RR is right in remembering the battery terminals were towards the front of the car in model year 68.
Regards,

Look under the car to verify (Seems the negative is towards the "outside" while the positive is near the middle of the car).

Yes.. It appears that way - Thanks.
BUT - my cables would reach front OR rear - but I'll assume front.

Funny, my '75 is exactly the opposite. Terminals to the rear. Oh well.

the 75 uses a side post battery, starting in late 69 they switched to that configuration from the earlier top post style

69s were a pain , the posts are forward which makes getting at the bolts tough.
