Hi. Just been turning engine over with the starter after a complete rebuild. One thing I've noticed is there is NO fuel being pumped to the carb. :mad I took the pump off and imersed a pipe into a container of fuel and pumped it with my hand...It worked, so I put it back on the car and it didn't pump  I took off the feed and imersed it in the container of fuel but still never worked. :mad All I can think is that there is a problem with the pushrod. Can't see why because it's the same one as I've always had in there.I have changed the pump to a chrome one but the lever looks exactly the same as the original. Any idea's Guys ?....VettePaul.

It's possible that the rod is slipping down when you install the pump. The easy way to install the pump is to insert the rod and turn the engine by hand until it's all the way in the block and not on the eccentric for the pushrod. Directly next to the fuel pump at the front of the engine block is a bolt. Remove this bolt and replace it with a longer one. The bolt goes through the block and will hold the pump rod in place until you install the pump. Don't forget to remove the long bolt and replace it with the original. You should also use a little sealer on this bolt to eliminate any leaks that may form. Give this a try and let us know how it works.

Had the same problem with mine the other day. I had to pour gas down the carb to get he engine running before it pumped hard enough to fill the fuel bowls. Also, if you have a holley, take out the front site plug, it seemed to help allow the fuel to flow in easier.

Just been out and took it off yet again :mad I've put it back on and made absolutely sure that the push rod is in the right place. I draped the in feed in a cotainer of fuel and left the carb feed disconnected..............Still absolutely nothin' coming out :mad :mad I'm just gonna go and bolt on the original that I know worked fine and do the same. Be back in around 15...Cheers, VettePaul.

Forgot to mention my first dumb mistake. I left the pinch clamp on the tank to steel line rubber hose. When I took it off I could see fuel making it to the clear fuel filter. (YES, the class filter is coming off, just wanted to make the line was clean from the new filter in the back to the carb.) You don't have it pinched off do you?
Thanks Fevre but I have actually bypassed the fuel tank altogether. I have the in connection to the pump dangled into a bowl full of fuel. By the way guys, just tried the old pump. Fuel pumped thru but it didn't spurt out. More like just dribbled. Still

Beenout on it again tonight. I made a few enquiries today and one specialist asked if I had changed my cam. When I replied "yes" he said that he had done one in the past and the new cam didn't have a lobe to work the fuel pump rod.I know mine has a lobe because the rod moves up and down when cranking the engine. Is it possible that the lobe isn't big enough to work the pump ? Still Very  ........VettePaul.
