Default Brake conversion stop lights

I recently converted my manual brake 1968 to vaccum assit power. I used the kit from JEGS that included new booster, clevis and vaccum unit. My problem is that the brake light does not work anymore since the pedal is in a different resting postion now than with the manual brakes. Is there a new bracket for "power brakes" that I need to use that holds the switch?

Just a guess, isn't there adjustment on the stoplight switch that you can move forward or backward.

You still have the same pedal correct ?

If you installed a new clevis on the end of the brake rod then nothing under the dash changed ?

Is the wire still connected on the switch ?

Did you bump/knock/move the switch so it does not work now ?

Adjust the switch so that it works properly. If you need to modify the hardware a bit, have at it.

You need to change the stop switch striker on the pedal. Its different for power brakes.

You also should have changed the position of the clevis on the brake pedal itself, its should be in the lower hole (furthest away from the fulcrum) when using power brakes I believe.

Here's a '68 brake light switch, as you can see it's nothing like the '69 up plunger style and has very little adjustment options compared to the later style switch.

I remember a thread from awhile back where a member had retro-fitted the later style switch.

Sorry, sometimes I forget just how different some 68 parts are from the later models. Geez that thing is different.

Looks like this is a one yr only part? Maybe you can convert to a 69 or 67 part?

Maybe you can just adapt the switch in the bracket to "clock it" into the proper position.

Yes th3 68 does not have a plunger piece thayt attaches to the pedal arm. It is like the picture above. When I installed the power brakes, I moved the clevis to attach to the lower hole...that was the only change. The issue is that with power brakes the pedal sits lower to be even with the gas pedal so the brake lights stray on all the time.

The 68 switch shown above by DZRICK has 2 holes on the braket. I wonder if you change holes depending on power vs manual brakes?

If I remember correctly there are 2 studs the switch mounts to, the slotted holes allow limited adjustment.
I'm not aware of any differences in either the switches or the mounting of said switch between manual and power brakes in '68.

Is the setup you installed stock '68 or is any of it after-market?
