Default 1982 climate controls not working

I just bought a 1982, and the only thing that seems to work in the climate control system is the blower. It obviously hadn't been used in a long time because I got a nice face full of dust when I turned it on for the first time.

The selector for choosing Max/Norm/Heat/Etc. will only move to Off and Max, it won't go any farther over. Is this something that could be taken apart and fixed, or will I need to replace the entire unit?

FYI, the Max setting only blows warm air, but that's another issue.

There is a cable that goes from the Max/Norm/heat/etc to the heater core box located behind the glove box door. Sounds like its seized up. You can take the passenger side panel off to see the cable at the switch and remove the glove box to see where it connects. Try and free it up. See if the lever on the core box moves freely. I bet your problem is inside the box. the box is hard to get out. It does sound like the door in the core box is stuck other wise you would get warm and cold air.
