I'm finally finishing up an interior rebuild and I'm about ready to put the dash back together after re-dying all of the vinyl. I was installing the new headlight switch I purchased when I noticed that the new one does not have vacuum ports... and the old one did. Now I'm returning the old and looking to expedite shipment of the correct switch. Can anyone explain why a new headlight switch for a 1971 coupe is offered without the vacuum ports? Are there some models that don't need them? Thanks.
which vendor sent you a wrong headlight switch.such an obvious mistake.that is
Little things like this are very irritating, a vendor selling corvette parts
should have some type of clue.
I just bought a vacuum switch that is no better then the old one, I asked if they only sell parts ,they said yes.It would be nice if parts were inspected and tested for operation prior to being shipped,it would save on shipping and frustration on both parties.
Well now go find something else to work on until another switch arrives.

All the parts stores I checked for that switch had the wrong switch listed for the Corvette. Some how the passenger car switch was listed as a Corvette switch. I had to buy one from a Corvette parts vendor.
Did you get your new switch? I bought the $15 switch from my local part store and took it and my old one apart to replace the top plate like Roger said. It worked good for a few years but now it has to be messed with to get the light to come on. I'm looking at buying one from Willcox.
