Do a search in this C3 tech section or in the C4 tech section on "2030" and you should find lots of reading material.

crate engine, at the very least heads and cam . the heads on a "cease fire " engine have basicly only half an intake port , it was a stupid design, and the intake is worse. even a change to a tuned port system is better than what you have.

I spent a lot of time on the crossfire forum when I had my 84. I got significant hp increase over stock, but no where near what I could have with a motor swap. Just be aware of the limitations with the setup and you won't end up disappointed. With the upgrades below, my crossfire powered 84 ended up feeling like a TPI vette, no dyno numbers, no 1/4 mile times, just seat of the pants dyno. Now doing a bunch of upgrades on a crossfire motor just to get the power of a stock tpi motor isn't saying much, but if you're cool with that outcome great, if not either save your money or budget for a motor swap. Again this was in an 84 but almost all applies to an 82...

I added a hypretech chip and lower thermostat and fan switch, 1.6 roller rockers, K&N filter, modified the core support to duct cool air into the hood scoops, MSD box, performance distributor & plugs & wires, TPI fuel pump, and high flow cat and replaced the mufflers with straight pipe. I ported a stock intake, but sold the car before I ever installed it.

Corvette Fever did an article last year about a Crossfire hopup. The idea was to increase the horsepower and keep an all stock appearance of the engine. They were supposed to post the results in the Febuary 2009 issue but I have never been able to find it, which is to bad because it sounded like an interesting project. If you do a serach on their website the article was called "Caught in the Crossfire". I woulde very much like to hear the outcome of it.
