Default L88 hood surgery

I have lined up a body shop to paint my new L88 hood next month. I wanted to cut some holes in the bottom recess to drain the water that collects there, and possibly enough to add airflow to the motor. Is there a "way" to do this such as a certain size/shape/number of holes to cut or is this even a wise idea? Pics would be awesome but any info is appreciated as always.

I had a 76 camaro with an L88 hood scoop on it Years ago. I drilled two holes in the deepest part of the trench just off the centerline of the hood. I think they were around 1/4" or smaller. You can't use this for extra air or You will end up being one of these Guys who can't wash the car because they can't get it wet. You don't want water getting into the engine. You can probably glue half strips of tubing under neath to divert water away to another location for run off.
