[B][COLOR="DarkRed"] I've said this on here before but I think it could be repeated... I was looking at the same set of options three years ago... Rebuild, not knowing what we would run into once opened.. Or, open the Summit catalog and place a order.... ZZ383 shows up a week later and a custom 700R4 is built .... Couple of false starts on the driveshaft cutdown...(soon replaced with a HD one after it came apart on the highway) ... Never looked back.. 425 hp, 450 # tq .... 4 speed, 20mpg...
Thanks! I think im just gonna stick to the 350. How do you match good parts together? Like how do you figure out if the parts will work good together? Trial and Error?
You can find an engine build that matches what you want from your engine and then duplicate it EXACTLY with no substituting similar parts. Well, you have to at least duplicate the stroke, pistons, heads and cam. Something like a different cam with the same stroke or rods with the same length really won't change much.
Just above was posted the ZZ383. You could buy the pistons, heads and cam of that engine and basically build a duplicate of it. It uses a Chevy roller cam block so it's a one piece rear seal and supports the Chevy roller setup but you can use retrofit roller lifters.
