I found the firing order for my '70 350/350 (L46), it's: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. How do I check the firing order to make sure it's correct?
Also, I can't find the sticker under my hood listing the timing details for my car. Does anyone know what the timing spec's are for a '70 L46 (or, a link to find this information)?
First let's discuss firing order. #1, 3, 5, 7 are on the driver's side, the front plug being #1.. So that leaves #2, 4, 6, 8, on the passenger's side. Now, looking at the distibutor from the front of the car, the firing order goes clockwise. #1 wire will be your starting point.. follow the firing order and trace out the wires very carefully. 1,8,4,3 6,5,7,2. It gets more complex if you have removed all of the wires.... Re-post if you need more help.... As for the timing, The book calls for 4 deg BTDC (before top dead center) You will not be able go by the book however unless you have 98-100 octane fuel. It is best to get Lars re-curve kit and go by his instructions.
