Same experience here. I initially cut a hole in the passenger side of the tunnel to allow clearance for the driveshaft U-joint but after lowering the trans some more that turned out to be unnecessary. I also left the e-brake bracket as-is.

Difficult and expensive to make work with the pull style clutch. Go LS if you choose the T56 route.

The T45 is the last performance transmission developed by Borg-Warner and is essentially a 5 speed version of the T56 6 speed. It is a very reliable and robust transmission offering smooth shift quality and quiet operation.

It will hold your 383 stroker with no issues. Watch this video below and pay attention to what tranny he is running before he launches.

The only true bolt-in 5 Speed is a T-5 built by SKSpeed. I still have my original driveshaft and 76 mph comes in at 2,000 rpm.
