Default 77 cruise control

Hi
Need advice for adding aftermarket cruise control on a 77 vette L82. Which one works best for the buck. Dave

If you do a search of this forum, Audiovox CCS100 cruise control seems to be the most popular aftermarket unit.

For the money, the Audiovox is hard to beat. It is well made, relatively easy to install and is very responsive. The only [minor] downside that I have found with mine is that, once you have set the unit to a speed then and hit the brakes [for whatever reason] you cannot reset it to a different speed without first turning the system OFF then back ON. Factory systems allow you to accelerate to a new speed, then SET the unit at that new speed; the Audiovox doesn't work that way, apparently.

But, that is a very little inconvenience for a well operating system that is only $100.

P.S. I installed my control head on the 'topside' of the driver's rock/mud shield mounted below the footwell. That keeps it protected and out of view; and the atuator cable is plenty long enough to reach the carb linkage. It's a very clean arrangement and most folks don't even know the difference (even car show judges).

i ave had a couple of them we modified for use on a motorcycle and they worked very very well. I was thinking of getting one for my 72 as they are easy to install-especially after installing on a bike. I have never had the issue of having to shut it off before resetting. They do some strange things on occasion

Well I agree that is the one I had picked out. Only trouble is it has been discontinued and is out of production. I may find one but from what I have read no longer any parts for this model. I think the new replacement is electronic audiovox 250-1316. Dave

I think that you can still get them from a company named murph's kits. He sell s things for Kawasaki motorcycle primarily. He has sold a bunchof the Audivox as they are easy to put on motorcycles. If there are some to be had he will have them. I know it seems odd to go to a cycle site to get these, but I bought two from him and he is excellent to deal with and has a good rep with the Kawasaki Concours forum people.
