I am fighting a bad ingnition misfire situation when revs get above 2500 rpm. I replaced pretty much everything (plugs, leeds, cap, rotor, etc...) but nothing was helping. I just bypassed my MSD box and sure enough the missing is gone. When I first installed this box, many moons ago, I did not run the power connections (pos & neg) back to the battery. Could this be my problem?? Is it not getting enough juice at higher RPM's??
MSD's instructions recommend to pull the power directly from the battery. I ran a dedicated wire back to the battery for my 6AL. Been trouble free 10 years now and revs right up there. Not saying that's your problem but MSD recommends the battery for a reason.

Ya, I guess it's good to read directions .
I figure I'm going to run new lines anyway but I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this. I'm hoping this will fix the problem and I don't have a bad box.

MSD has come out with a shielded wire kit that goes from the controller to the distributor. A little under $30.
I've heard that the wires that come initially can pick up interference and cause trouble. Might as well run them new too.
I picked my hot up from the starter stud and ground from the engine ground strap and have not had any problems.
Installing the MSD distributor and 6AL was the best thing I ever did for my engine.
