Default Wth?? Carb issue

Hello all , just discovered a problem , my 81 has been idling rough since I got it , thought carb was dirty and was going to address this over the winter..BUT i just discovered that instead of the correct 17081228 carb I have a 17085204!!! Research shows that it is a Chevy Q-Jet from 81 not for a vette hmmmm....Bubba??
I'm going to guess that this is NOT compatiable with my 81 CCC and the cause of the roughness ,any thoughts? (Lars???)My question is, yes I'm going to change it but what if anything would have to be done to get it to run in my 81??

I agree that a Q Jet from 81, while not being the correct number carb for your car, could still very well work just fine. My guess is that your rough idle is not due to the fact that you have the wrong carb. As said above though, Lars is the expert, and I certainly am no expert.

When was the last time you gave your Vette a tune up?
The problem might not be the carb.
