Default Connecting Speedo cable to speedometer (install)

Ok....I'm replacing my speedo cable.....removal was fine, but install has been rough! I am about 1/2 inch or so from "snap-in". I am afraid I will break something soon if I keep attempting to force it to connect......any hints will be great.

I have removed, installed the previous one fine in the past, but this new one is a bugger to get connected.

have you tried twisting the inner cable slightly? have you compared the end of the new one to the old one and see no differences?

Default Sure it's the right cable? Compare with the old one.

It shouldn't be that hard. Double check the part, or reconsider where you bought it.

Can you have someone push from the firewall side as you guide it in to place inside?
I've had that work for me.

I just replaced mine in my 79. I bought the 72" from Advance Auto and it went in fine. I did pull the cluster out to make sure I ran the cable through the same way it was. It went in fine and snapped into the head easy.
