Re: using a 2 seater as a daily driver? (daniel77350)
works for me. I drove my 81 for 1-1/2 years right afetr I got it, started to restore it, now I got an 82, so i don't have to drive my pick-up(basic 2 seater). If the family goes anywhere we take the wifey's Blazer. Works for me. :seeya
Re: using a 2 seater as a daily driver? (daniel77350)
I was intent on using my vette as a daily driver, but my parents donated the old 89 s10 blazer to me for everyday use. There is nothing like hopping in the vette and cruisin around school or out at the bars, but the idea of someone messing it up is always in the back of my mind. I really like not having to worry about parking it in a student parking lot since most people cannot park decent at LSU. At first I did not like my current set up, but it has grown on me. There is nothing like a vette on the weekends, and a beater for the abuse everyday. If i were you I would try to also buy a cheap 1k or 2k car for everyday abuse. That way you can enjoy the vette and worry less about what others may do to it.
Re: using a 2 seater as a daily driver? (Sigforty)
I don't know what I will get yet. I know it will be a convertible and 2 seater. I think 2 seaters in any make are more attractive(because they tend to yeild longer hoods or rear decks, which I think are cool). I have looked at a couple C4's that I wouldn't mind driving(I really don't like their looks, but sometimes one will catch my eye). I might be leaving the C3 family for a couple years(while Im in college) for various reasons. The big one for me is, I can spend $10K on a C3, or 30K on a C5, but if someone keyed my C3, I'd be WAY more pissed then if they keyed my C5, because I just think classics are worth more then modern cars despite what any book(kbb, nada) says. Not to mention you can't go up to the dealer and buy another C3 as easily as you could a C5(meaning the availibility). So I may look more toward a modern car, for its comfort, gas milage, and I wouldn't feel as paranoid about leaving it while i went into a store. Also, financing a newer car is a bit easier, and interest rates tend to be lower. (as do the times it brakes down) :jester
But if I find a C3 I like and can buy, I will. But the practicality of it leans more toward a C4 or something along those lines.
Re: using a 2 seater as a daily driver? (daniel77350)
For $10K you can get a pretty sweet C4. I have $14 into mine, but I bought it for $7. It was nearly immaculate, just not quick enough. You want to get an '87 or newer, skip '92-'93, and the later LT1-4's are nice too(although you'll really have to look in that price range). Tay Jay just sold his '88 for $5K, it wasn't in *that* bad of shape. It was very cherry when he got it, and I think he paid $8K.
I'd love a C3 along with my C4, but its a ways off, and when I finally have the opportunity, it'll probably to be an all out drag car. :)

my budget is a bit higher the 10K. that was just an example. :jester I could probably get something in the '95 range('vert of course). We'll see. Im going to wilmington this weekend to look around.

I thought the same thing, so I bought a van and drove it for over five years, and never had anyone else in it besides me and my groceries. The Corvette is my kinda car for going anywhere that means anything. If they want to party then they can meet me there!

I have a 81 Jeep CJ8 for my daily driver it good for hauling small loads ,kamping trips,or getting out and playing in the snow and mud it's a straight6 so it gets ok gas milage and its still atwo seater hardtop cunvertable.
I forgot you can add an extra seat and make it a four seater vert. :D

already exstinguished the jeep idea. :) Im looking for a daily driver, and I only want 1 car. Not only would parking two outside of my dorm be impracticle, but the thought of trying to take two cars, clothes, a computer, TV, etc, to college every symester doesn't excite me. :D
