Default '72 engine question

hi all, i am removing the non-functioning smog pump from a '72, and need to know what size plugs i will need for the exhaust manifolds.
do i just remove the pipe work and plug the holes, or is there more to it?
also am i supposed to have a radiator overflow tank in there, either plastic or the metal round one?
the car has a/c.
any photo's of under the hood that shows whats supposed to be there?
all the photo's i have found on the net, dont show that side very well.

i'm just trying to get a heads up, as i dont get the car delivered till next week.

thanks

Hi rr,
Since you're asking about AIR equipment it would be good to know if your new car is an LT-! or 454 car. Knowing that will help steer you to some pictures of the compartment.
Make sure you hang on to ALL the AIR equipment since it's difficult and expensive to replace, and the next owner may want it.
Regards,
Alan

These are what you need to plug the AIR holes in the manifolds.

In 72 A/C cars did not have an overflow tank. There should be a hose coming from the radiator cap that will release coolant if it overheats.

Hi rr,
Interesting!
The reason I asked is because I was thinking 'base' since you didn't say otherwise; and the AIR equipment was only put on 72 base engine cars to be delivered in California. (option NB2)
I'll bet you're really EXCITED!!!!
Regards,
Alan

hi alan, (catchy name, same as mine)

yes it's a californian car, two owner in usa, and now me 2nd here in australia.
at some stage the pump had been disconected and the pulleys missing.
so since i dont need to have it there, i will just remove it.
just trying to get things organised before the car gets here.
it's first on my to do list. to free up some room under there.

from the photo's it's hard to tell what thread size they are!

FYI: just checked the transport company's web tracker, and the car is within 100km (62 of them funny mile markings on the dash), so may get it later this arvo, here's hopeing

thanks

There are press fit tubes inside the manifold, that extend into the exhaust flow. They can only be removed with the manifolds off the engine. You can just leave them in with no problem.
