so are these problems only i have???
1) my intermittant setting on my wipers doesn't work, or the mist (one wipe) setting.
2) my battery light always glows (although you can only see it at night), even though my alt is putting out 13.5-14volts. it's not bright, but you can see it.
3) my gas gauge bounces anytime the car is in motion. it generally ranges anywhere from a 1/4-1/2 sweep of the gauge but the only time it doesn't bounce is after the car has come to rest or its either really full or really empty.
these are all really just petty annoying little things, mechanically the car is fine despite being 20+ years old.
2. Bad ground?
3. Bad sending unit.
Fortunately, I don't have #1. Well, could be unfortunate, since I don't even have intermittent wipers (nice feature).
I've had #2 before and seen similar "idiot" lights light up.
I think I've got #3 right now. Although, mine usually just sits at the correct reading for a few minutes and then jumps to full and stays there until I shut the car off
Old cars, ya gotta love 'em :yesnod:
1)- Most likely it's the wiper delay module's bad.
2)- The 'batt' light shouldn't glow at all. You could take alt to auto parts for testing. I suspect a poss bad diode.
3)- Most likely sending unit.
Thats just part of having a 20 yr old + car. Good Luck -Rod :chevy
On my '81, the wipers just quit one day, going from no problem at all to no workie at all. I've pretty much traced it to the delay module that is located behind the passenger seat (who the hell decided to put it THERE?). But I haven't replaced it yet. Haven't had the guts to look for one and see how much it costs....
So far, no prob with charging indicator or fuel guage.... (fingers crossed...)
Good luck! :seeya
